Directorate of International Relations & Protocol

INTRODUCTION

The Directorate of International Relations and Protocol in the National Assembly of Pakistan serves as the central platform for fostering international engagement and promoting inter-parliamentary cooperation with counterpart parliaments, as well as regional and global parliamentary forums. In an era where globalization continues to influence political and legislative dynamics, the Directorate plays a pivotal role in ensuring the active participation of the Honorable Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Members of National Assembly in international parliamentary networks thereby projecting Pakistan's official stance on important issues of regional and global concern.

The core mandate of this Directorate is to promote parliamentary diplomacy by coordinating the National Assembly's involvement in regional and international multilateral parliamentary forums, as well as managing official incoming and outgoing bilateral visits. It facilitates dialogue, the exchange of best practices, and collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening democratic governance, promoting peace, and advancing Pakistan's national interests through robust engagement with counterpart parliaments, Parliamentary Friendship Groups (PFGs) and active participation in international and regional parliamentary organizations.

As the focal point for coordination with the world parliaments as well as the regional and global inter-parliamentary organizations, this Directorate not only ensures Pakistan's presence at all multilateral frameworks but also strives to implement the resolutions adopted by the multilateral parliamentary forums alongside pursuing the global parliamentary benchmarks that align with the interest of our parliament as well as the country.

The Protocol Section of the Directorate extends official courtesies during bilateral visits and multilateral conferences. It also oversees administrative andlogistical arrangements including visa facilitation, passport processing, airport assistance, and other routine protocol duties.

Through its comprehensive and coordinatedefforts, the Directorate of International Relations and Protocol enhances the global visibility and influence of the National Assembly of Pakistan, contributing to the development of informed, constructive, and enduring international parliamentary partnerships.
